Whats your favorite part in SS2?

    My personal favorite part in the game is when you enter the Rickenbacker and get to travel inside the Many. It takes a dramatic turn of scenery and tactics and was very well executed.

    My favourite part is entirety of Shodan dialogue, especially when she whispers exitedly at the end.

    My favorite moment in SS2 is...

    ...near the end when SHODAN takes back the cybernetic modules you found on Delacroix's corpse.

    That was a truly shocking moment where the mechanics, and the setting, and the character of SHODAN all came together in a surprising but utterly plausible way.

    It's also connected to why I found The Many unexciting as a source of setting-applicable challenge in SS2. I don't mind the concept of The Many; it's inspired -- it's how this concept was implemented that wasn't interesting.

    Specifically, The Many were too obviously just unconnected individual fights placed by the developers. By the very nature of The Many, there was no overarching intelligence organizing their actions toward an external goal, even if only notionally. ("Spread enough to exist safely" certainly can be horrifying, but in a creeping-menace kind of way that may not be a good fit for an action-RPG.)

    So every fight with a midwife or a rumbler was visibly just keyed to a location in a computer game -- there was no sense of them being active agents of a strong but evil mind. Many of SHODAN's cyborgs and 'bots also were location-based challenges, but the ways in which they moved and fought and communicated all combined to tell the player "SHODAN knows I'm here and is actively using these agents to try to manipulate me into getting myself killed."

    That sense of active engagement with a smart and focused antagonist, versus the diffuse menace of The Many, is precisely what the takeback moment achieved in glorious style.
